4 Team Building Exercises For Teenagers

Working in teams comes naturally to some teens, but for others, it may be a source of stress and anxiety. Nevertheless, team-building activities are a great way to teach teens important social and interpersonal skills.

Additionally, it helps them develop trust in their peers while also understanding what they can do for others. Group activities are also ideal for teenagers who are hesitant to participate in activities;the idea of a fun game may make them more willing to participate.

Here are some of our favorite team-building exercises for teenagers:

Collaborative Project:

For this activity, you’ll need a project with different elements for each team to work on. For example, it could be parts of a completed painting, or creating an activity book for toddlers with multiple activities.

Working together to create a final product with each individual talents will help them collaborate better. They work together, share ideas, and learn how to communicate effectively.

Unknot:

For this, ask everyone to stand together in a circle, shut their eyes and stretch their arms out. Next, ask them to reach out to the nearest person and hold their hands without looking.

This will result in a lot of tangled hands, and then they need to work together to untangle this knot of hands without letting go of the hand they first held. This will result in a lot of teamwork—to go over and under each other’s hands to detangle the weave.

Moreover, you can set the time to make the game more challenging. Communicating clearly will help them make decisions faster.

Paintball:

Paintball is a fun activity for kids of all ages. Divide the group into two teams and assign each team a color. Next, each teamwill be given balloons that they will fill with paint water.

Each team will toss balloons at the other team and try to paint them with their team’s colors. The painted members get eliminated, and the team that eliminates the other team’s members the fastest wins.

This is a great game to teach coordination and strategy devising skills.

Jigsaw Puzzles:

In this activity, a single jigsaw puzzle is taken and divided into small portions. Each team has sub-teams that get a portion of the puzzle.

The challenge is for each sub-team to complete the puzzle before they all get together to complete the big picture. This exercise helps build problem-solving skills and teamwork.
